YouTube is massive - bigger than TV - but it's stuck in web 1.0. On the Flame Learning channel, the videos, the actual stars of the show, sit in a static list we never visit. Instead we rely on playlists which are hard boundaries, like folders. Playlists hardwire in duplication, and there's no way around it. You're trying to learn, but now you're wondering if you've done this bit already. So instead, you're analyzing hundreds of videos, trying to find your place, which is impossible without a spreadsheet at the very least. The problem is that your work is in two places. Basically, you're goosed! Like when you try to run two versions of one batch setup, yes? Doesn't work.
Confused minds do nothing. Learning stalls. Progress zero. The fix is to flip YouTube's structure. Make the video list king. And the result is that you 'get linear', you go in a straight line, with the finish line just up ahead.
Playlists still exist, all of them, every video in order. But now they are filters instead of hard boundaries. When you bump into something you've seen before, it's already filled out and marked as done. A pleasant reminder of progress made. In Connected Conform speak, the videos are now 'Shared Sources.'
These new soft boundaries are dynamic. You can now carve up YouTube, any way you like. Carefully curated keywords, generated by a Flame User, are your cutting edge, prompt style, selection wizard. Mix and match your playlists. Watch anything, in any order. Align it with precision to your clients' demands. Every move is forward.
it’s a content management system. I built it because I need it. My private copy is littered with Snipo, Readwise, & Miro notes & transcriptions. I capture web stuff to it with the Save To Notion Chrome extension, and I chat to all my Flame notes with Notion AI. It can easily be turned into a visual gallery, but, since that would infringe Autodesk's copyright, I've kept this sample copy clean.
I'm in this for the long haul. As well as consolidating my Flame Learning, I’m also using it to track my Flame User Template Production Setups, which u might see from time to time on Linkedin -they live in the User gallery on the homepage. My bet is that Flame will thrive by playing its 'integration' card. - where it really shines - and since the world is filling up with GenAI, there is going to be a lot of integration work to do. This is beta v1.0. Links need verifying, keywords need compiling and general testing is underway. I’ll be updating it to cover all new developments. You can get Notion for free, duplicate this database, and see if it works for you.
